LGBT Pride Month

Pride Month

By Ema Ganivatu
Not Gay. But Supportive!

Pride Month is a commemoration of history, a time to remember those who overcame adversity and persevered in the face of adversity to bring about significant change. It's also a moment to reflect on the present and a chance to support and uplift LGBTQ loved ones in your community. Most importantly, Pride Month is an opportunity to look ahead and dream about the society we want to create, one in which LGBTQ people thrive in every way. The promotion of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and enhanced visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons as a social group is known as gay pride or LGBT pride. The main viewpoint that underpins most LGBT rights campaigns is Pride, rather than shame and social censure.

People all across the world are subjected to violence, discrimination, torture, and even execution as a result of who they love, how they appear, or who they are. Sexual orientation and gender identity are personal characteristics that should never be subjected to racism or abuse. Bullying, familial rejection, and homelessness are all significant dangers to LGBT youths' health and well-being. These dangers, however, are not unavoidable or unstoppable. Proposed policies and programs can help decrease the terrible impact of these threats on LGBT adolescents, and they are critical to ensuring that these children and youth grow up free of the discrimination and dangers that currently threaten them.

LGBTQ rights have gone a long way, it is vital to remember where they came from when everyone was focused on the present difficulties that the community is facing and how to address them. Looking back we can note that the community rights were originally a pipe dream only. Over the last century, the fight for LGBTQ+ rights has been tough. Hundreds of thousands of LGBT historical figures have fought for their and others' freedom against harsh tyranny and discrimination. Several significant events in LGBT history have paved the way for a brighter future.

Here are some of the LGBTQ rights movement's most significant successful rights;
  • 1924- The first gay rights group is established
  • 1958- The Supreme Court rules in favor of gay rights
  • 1973- Homosexuality is no longer a mental illness
  • 2015- Love Twins
  • 2020- The Supreme Court expands the law to protect LGBTQ against workplace discrimination

We advocate for laws and policies that preserve the dignity of all people. We strive for a world where everyone may fully exercise their rights.

Clothing Style

 My Style Inspiration

By Ema Ganivatu

Clothing can reveal a lot about a person's station in life, as well as their cultural affiliation or identity. A few modest wardrobe elements might help to distinguish characters and highlight aspects of their personalities.

One of the most crucial components of our lives as teenagers in our wardrobe style. There are numerous popular clothing trends these days, and we have each our own sources of inspiration.

My clothing style is influenced by Asians mostly Koreans and primarily reflects my personal preferences. Korea has created its own clothing trends that distinguish it from the rest of the world. Although many younger Koreans still favor garments inspired by their western counterparts, there are many aspects of Korean fashion that are highly unique both in formal and casual wear.

Life isn't perfect but your outfit can be.

Although South Korea has a lot of western attire and influences. Korean fashion has distinct characteristics. You may have noticed these distinct looks in music or in episodes of your favorite Korean drama. Korean society places a high value on maintaining one look from head to toe, and this is evident on the streets.

Some items that you should add to your closet to get that Korean Fashion look;

  • Ripped Jeans
  • Dress Over Blouse
  • Patel Colours Tops
  • A school girl look
  • Hats
  • Over-sized Pull-overs
  • Modern Feminine Blouse
  • Sports Wears
  • Sneakers
  • Casual Blazers
  • Couple Dressing

The clothing style is frequently chosen ahead of time for both formal and casual use, rather than simply throwing on the first items they find in the wardrobe. Koreans prefer wearing brightly colored clothing. They're not afraid to express themselves and their modern aesthetic taste using a variety of apparel materials.

With each passing season, the fashion trend changes. All who dress according to the trend are described as updated, while those who dress according to the past are called outdated. However, it is dependent on the individual and their preferences.

Here's a video featuring some Korean ideas on how to dress casually.

My profession, I must admit, is a blend of old and new tendencies. It makes no difference to me as long as it is comfortable and weather appropriate. My favorite look is to wear a loose t-shirt, blouse, or sweater with slender jeans or skirts. Others may like to wear a large top with a loose bottom, which is also a popular look. For a later shot, I make sure that any bag I use complements my casual attire.

If you like it, Wear it!

Cyberbullying

Together we can stop Cyberbullying!

By Ema Ganivatu

Cyberbullying, also known as cyber harassment, is an electronic form of bullying or harassment. Online bullying includes cyberbullying and cyber harassment. As the digital environment has grown and technology has evolved, it has become more widespread, particularly among youth. Posting rumors, threats, sexual remarks, a victim's personal information, or derogatory labels are all examples of harmful bullying conduct. Cyberbullying frequently exists in the form of relationship problems, such as the termination of a friendship or romance, the envy of a peer's success, or biased intolerance of specific groups based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or disability. Bullying has been linked to negative effects on children's and young people's emotional health in numerous studies. There has been an increase in incidences of cyberbullying from all around the world in recent years. Victimized/traumatized children as young as 6 to 7 years old, but typically teenagers. Most young people who are cyberbullied are already being bullied in traditional, face-to-face ways, according to studies. Cyberbullying can infiltrate a target's life at any time of day or night, and there is evidence that targets of cyberbullying face additional hazards, such as damage to self-esteem, academic achievement, and emotional well-being.

The following are the most prevalent places where cyberbullying occurs:

  • Social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Messenger.
  • Text messaging or any messaging apps on devices.
  • Email
  • Online Gaming
  • Phone Calls

Bullies won't stop until they are stopped!

The most basic strategy to deal with cyberbullying is to try to prevent it from happening in the first place whether at school, community, in church, or out in the public, as well as exposure to a variety of informative websites. Parents can help avoid this by prohibiting access to certain websites and establishing age-appropriate computer and internet usage limitations. Another point worth stating is that young individuals are more likely to find confiding in peers beneficial. Establishing awareness programs and services, implementing anti-bullying measures, and team-building programs in the student body and community.
However, it appears that to solve the problem of cyberbullying, we must first understand the networks and social groups in which this type of abuse occurs, as well as the role that digital worlds play in young people's emotional lives today, as well as the disturbing fact that cyber victims can be targeted at any time and from any location, thus increasing their vulnerability. External measures have their place, but we must also remember that cyberbullying is an interpersonal issue.
One of the reasons reporting cyberbullying is so crucial is that we all want it to end. However, developing the Internet we want entails more than simply condemning bullying. We must be cautious about what we share or say that may cause harm to others. We must be kind to one another both online and in person. It is up to each and every one of us!

Social Media

By Ema Ganivatu,

"One of the most powerful aspects of social media is that it forces necessary change."

Social media refers to the tools that enable us to exchange information, images, and ideas, among other things. Now, social media is rapidly becoming the most important and widely used communication medium. It's debatable whether social networking is a blessing or harm. One thing is certain: social media has become an essential aspect of people's lives of all ages nowadays. The majority of people believe that social media has eliminated every bit of physical human interaction at an alarming rate and that it has changed how we view human interactions in current times. Others believe that social media has improved and provided us with better options and ways to stay connected to those we love wherever they are in the globe and that we can share news and information more quickly through social media. While the rest believed that it has negatively impacted us on various grounds. As a result, different people have varied perspectives on this contentious issue.

The most popular social media networks now include Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Wikipedia, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, and many more.

 Social media undoubtedly has both benefits and drawbacks. But, in the end, it's up to the user;
 Benefits:

  • Availability- The network is the first and most important aspect of social media.
  • For education and research purposes.
  • Connectivity- People from all over the world can connect with each other, including families, etc.
  • Using numerous social media sites, people are making money and gaining popularity at the same time.
  • Entertainment
  • Informative
  • They have surpassed all other mediums in terms of raising public awareness for any social problem.
  • The capability to reach millions of individuals in an unthinkable time throughout the nations.
Drawbacks:
  • Very addictive
  • Cyberbullying
  • Security Issues & Hacking
  • Increases Health-Related Problems
  • Fake News
  • Peer Pressure

It is debatable if social media is a blessing or a curse. However, one thing that cannot be ignored is that refraining from it is extremely difficult. The benefits of staying connected to people and staying informed have surely made our lives easier, happier, and more convenient. The difficulties that come with social media may be set aside in some way, and we can confidently go on with the advancements it has brought to our daily lives. It's crucial to understand that what's helpful for us can also be harmful at times. Also, if we acquire information from social media, we should make a habit of double-checking first. We can make social media a better place for us if we do this!

"The strength of your social media is determined by the strength of your content".
